How To Apply For PRSI Hair Grant
In 2022 the PRSI launched a hair grant scheme worth €500 per year.
“The €500 grant will be available to people, and their dependent spouse, civil partner or cohabitant who satisfy the medical requirements and the PRSI conditions of the department’s Treatment Benefit scheme".
To apply, simply call The Hair Club with your Name and PPS number and our dedicated team will check the PRSI system to see are you eligible.
Once eligible, we then send you the form either by email, post or Whatsapp for you to bring to your doctor to fill in. This form will have a list of various hair loss conditions which the PRSI will require your GP to examine your hair a tick one of the listed conditions in order for you to avail of the grant.
As our team fill all the paperwork out for you, we then send off your application to the relevant PRSI department and it will take 2 to 3 days for a deciding officer to approve your application.
Once we receive confirmation and approval for your grant, you can then book in for a consultation at our Dublin hair salon and choose your wig or hair topper.
Please note : After the consultation most customers put on hold the hair piece until the PRSI grant arrives which generally takes around 2 to 3 weeks.
If However you require the wig or hair topper directly after your consultation, you can pay for it there and then, and we reimburse you the value of the grant when we receive the grant which is generally the middle of every month.
The HSE Wig grant scheme has helped thousands of woman across Ireland that have a medical card and a certified hair loss condition. HSE Grants vary between €440 and €767 per year. Our Team fills out all the paperwork for you.

To be eligible your doctor must tick the form with one of the hair conditions:
- Alopecia areata (which includes alopecia totalis/universalis, diffuse alopecia areata, alopecia ophiasis),
- Primary scarring alopecias (also known as cicatricial alopecias),
- Frontal fibrosing alopecia and lichen planopilaris (scarring alopecia),
- Chemotherapy induced alopecia (anagen effluvium),
- Alopecia resulting from surgery or trauma, including burns.
2. How To apply For HSE Wig Grant
Firstly, you will need a valid HSE Medical Card. Our team will then send you the form which you bring to your doctor to fill in which we send you by email, post or Whatsapp (link above). This form will have a list of various hair loss conditions which are stated above that your doctor must tick one of these conditions for you to be eligible.
As our team fill in the paperwork for you, we then send off your application to your local HSE office to be approved by a deciding officer which can take around 2 to 3 weeks. Once we receive confirmation and the purchase order number from the HSE you can then book in for a consultation and choose your wig or hair topper.
