How Wigs Are Made
Wigs are an essential part of fashion and beauty in Ireland, and they have been used by people all over the world for centuries. Wigs can add length and volume to a person’s hair or give them a completely different look with a different hair color or style. They can also be used to disguise baldness or as part of a costume. The process of creating a wig is a complex one and requires an expert touch. In this article, we will look at how wigs are made from start to finish, including the different materials used, the processes required and the end results. Generally most wigs are made in the Far east in hair factories.
Wig Materials Used
When creating a wig, there are several different types of materials that can be used, depending on the desired end result. Most wigs are made from either real human hair or synthetic fibers, and each has its own advantages and disadvantages. Human hair wigs offer a more natural look and feel and can be styled in any way, whereas synthetic wigs are easier to care for and are less expensive.
The most common hair used to make wigs is human Remy hair, which is the highest quality human hair available. Remy hair is harvested from a single donor and is cut carefully so that all the cuticles remain intact, which prevents the hair from tangling or losing its shine. Other common types of human hair used in wigs include Chinese, Indian, Brazilian and European hair.
When making a wig from synthetic fibers, several different types of fibers are available, such as kanekalon, futura or modacrylic. Each type of fiber has its own unique properties, such as texture, color, durability... Read more
Wearing Wigs - Yes or No during your cancer treatment.
When a woman is diagnosed with cancer in Ireland, one of the first things she often faces is hair loss. This can be devastating to a woman’s sense of identity and self-confidence. While some women choose to go through chemotherapy and radiation treatment without a wig, many women make the decision to wear a wig which can be either human hair or synthetic wig.
At the Hair Club in Dublin there are many reasons we see why our clients with cancer choose to wear a wig. For some, wearing a wig helps to protect their remaining hair from the effects of chemotherapy and radiation. It gives them a sense of comfort and security that their hair won’t become further damaged while they’re undergoing treatment. Wearing a wig may also provide psychological benefits, helping them to cope with the emotional effects of hair loss. The majority of the time our clients just want to blend in naturally with their life to feel as normal as possible during chemotherapy.
In addition to protecting and preserving their remaining hair, wearing a wig can provide an important boost to a woman’s self-confidence. Many women feel more attractive, empowered and complete when wearing a wig. It gives them a sense of control and a more normal appearance as they adjust to their new look during cancer treatment.
For some women, wearing a wig helps them feel more comfortable in social situations. During a time when self-esteem is already fragile, the idea of leaving the house without head covering may be too intimidating. A quality wig can provide them with the confidence to go out and continue to take part in activities they enjoy.
A woman facing cancer may also choose to wear a... Read more
Hair Loss Causes For Woman
Hair loss is a common occurrence in both men and women, however, it can be especially distressing for women as our hair is our crown and glory. Hair loss in women may be caused by several different factors, both genetic and environmental.
Genetically, some women in Ireland may have a higher predisposition to hair loss due to their family history. Environmental factors, such as stress, diet, medications, and other aspects of daily life, may also contribute to hair loss.
Also hormonal changes are one of the most common causes of hair loss in women that we see at our wigs boutique at The Hair Club in Dublin. Hormonal changes can be caused by pregnancy, menopause, and even from birth control. During pregnancy, an increase in hormones can cause the hair follicles to enter a resting phase, which can cause hair loss. Similarly, menopause can cause a decrease in estrogen, which can lead to thinning hair and hair loss in some women.
In addition, some women may experience hair loss from certain forms of birth control and many of our clients try our hair toppers which gives natural volume on the crown area. In some cases, hair loss in women can be caused by medical conditions such as alopecia areata and telogen effluvium. Alopecia areata is an autoimmune disorder where the immune system mistakenly attacks the hair follicles, leading to patchy baldness. Telogen effluvium is a condition that causes the hair follicles to enter a resting phase, resulting in hair loss. In addition to these medical conditions, some women may experience hair loss due to stress.
Stress can cause an increase in the hormone cortisol, which can affect the hair follicles and lead to hair loss. Other psychological factors, such as depression or anxiety, can also...
